Christopher Dresser and Shosoin Treasures


Christopher Dresser (1834-1904) was one of the most important designer of the nineteenth century. The Shosoin is famous as the treasure repository of Todaiji, one of Nara's most important temples. In 1876-7 he toured Japan at the Japanese government's invitation. He visited Shosoin and was impressed. This exhibition will be the first attempt to introduce his meaning of his visit to Japan and to seek into the achievement of his measures of the promotion of industry.
