Moving to Koriyama City
If you plan to live in Japan for longer than three months, you will need to register yourself as a resident. When you move to Koriyama City you need to submit a "Moving-in Notification (tenyu todoke 転入届)" within 14 days of taking residence. Necessary documents to take with you
- Your residence card (or your passport if you have not received your residence card yet).
- A "Moving-out Notification (tenshutsu todoke 転出届)" if you are moving to Koriyama City from a different municipality in Japan.
- The original and a Japanese translation of a document that proves your relationship if you are living with your family (such as a marriage or birth certificate).
Moving within or out of Koriyama City
If you move within or out of Koriyama City, you need to submit a "Change of Address Notification (tenkyo todoke 転居届)".

Submitting a "Change of Address Notification" to the Post Office
The post office will send your post to your new address if you submit a "Change of Address Notification" for a period of one year.

My Number Card
Every person with a "Certificate of Residence (juminhyo 住民票)" in Japan is given a My Number (Japanese). This number is a very important part of your personal information and is used for tax and social insurance purposes such as pension, unemployment insurance, health insurance etc.
You will receive a My Number notification within two to three weeks after registering yourself as a resident for the first time. Once you receive your My Number notification, you can apply for a My Number Card online or at the City Hall.
Koriyama City My Number Card Center
The My Number Card Center is located at the main entrance of the West Building of the Koriyama City Hall. The Center will help you with your application as well as issuance.
